Each year the Higdon Family Association needs a few volunteers to be officers. At the annual association meeting, the Vice Presidents move up one level. For example, the current First Vice President Nina Ruth Vaughan will become the President at the 2003 meeting in Texas, and David Mudd will become the First Vice President and so on. A new Third Vice President is elected every year at the meeting of the association and is responsible for hosting the annual meeting when he or she becomes President. The outgoing President becomes the Parliamentarian.

The Two-year Directors automatically become One-year Directors. So we elect two new Two-year Directors. The directors are part of the Executive Board and are expected to attend the annual meetings of the association. The other positions, (Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, Newsletter Editor, and Technologist) are held for long as the person volunteers to perform such tasks and are approved by the association members to serve as an officer. The 1Necrologist plays a vital role; he or she reports on the deaths of Higdon family descendants and honors them with a short memorial service at the annual meeting.

You must be a member in good standing with the Higdon Family Association and be at least eighteen years old to be an officer. We are a non-profit organization; all of our officers are unpaid volunteers. Please contact the Higdon Family Association if you are interested in volunteering for next year (2003-2004).
