Jean Higdon Turns 90 10/17/2009
Jean D. Higdon, widow of W. Dain Higdon (HFA President, 1986) celebrated her 90th birthday in October, 2009, with a party at the Regent Care Blanco Road nursing home. The party included some of her friends and family celebrating with Italian Crème Cake and singing. It was a full day of being Queen for a Day.
Jean was given a crown to wear at breakfast with balloons, which were tied to her Jerry Chair, so that the balloons went with her everywhere she went. Decorations from the party and cards she received were hung up in her room so she could see them as she lay in bed.
Jean has more than just a birthday to celebrate though. She is also a great-grandmother again. Travis and Janet Higdon (son and daughter-in-law of Jim and Barbara Higdon) had a baby boy in October 2009. Park Barrett Higdon joined his cousin Riley Elliot Higdon (August 2008) as the next generation on the W. Dain Higdon tree. Riley is the daughter of Andrew and Jennifer (Jake) Higdon and lives in Denver, Colorado with her parents, while Park thought it best to stay in Los Angeles, California with his parents (at least for the first 18 years).

Jean has had the privilege of holding her great-granddaughter, Riley, but is waiting to see Park in person. She does have pictures of both of them on her wall of family in her room at Regent Care.
