Researching Our AncestorsLooking through photo albums and compilations of our ancestors was a shared activity
in the hospitality room when we met for the 2006 HFA reunion. One of the most popular
resource books, which
unfortunately is no longer available for sale,
continues to be Gena Theiss's Descendants of John Higdon and Millicent.
Many people attended the annual meeting for the first time this year. Pat and Les Higdon from Georgia found out about us through this web site. They are not currently members of the association, but we're hoping they will soon join. Charles Nave from Virginia is a new member And it's not been that long ago that Carolyn Cole, and husband Randy, of Texas joined. Both Charles Higdon of Tennessee and Bill Higdon of Virginia are past presidents of the association.

Charles E. Higdon from Tennessee and Janice M. Higdon from Virginia Janice M. Higdon is next in line to be President of the Higdon Family Association. Charles E. is a past president and is one of the original founding members of the HFA. The 2006 HFA meeting at Hiawassee, Georgia, was absolutely super! It started on Thursday evening and ended Sunday morning. The Saturday night banquet was a definite highlight. We were entertained by speaker Sally Kell on the regional dialect of southern Appalachia, and the Barker Brothers bluegrass band had us all tapping our toes. |
