Denton Higdon Honored by SAR

Denton Higdon shares a letter dated November 15, 2003, from Ed Privette, President of the Silas McDowell Chapter at Franklin, North Carolina:

"The Sons of the American Revolution proudly presented the Past President Pin to Denton Higdon. Denton took the reigns of the Chapter during a period of reorganization between November of 2002 and May 2003. This was especially trying period in that our membership had dwindled down to just a few compatriots. Denton researched old records, contacted past members, recruited a slate of officers and jump started the chapter. Denton continues to serve today as the Chapter Vice President.

Denton Higdon is on the left.

In order to join the SAR one should be able to trace his genealogy back to the American Revolutionary War. Denton and his first cousin John Allen Higdon both are members under their g-g-g-grandfather Leonard Higdon who fought in the war."

Below is an accompanying news photo from The Franklin Press dated November 21, 2003.
