Former HFA President
Frances Higdon Smith accepted the role of Necrologist at the
2002 meeting in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
One of the most beautiful moments of the annual meeting is the Necrologist's Report. A candle is lighted and the list of Higdon family members who have died since the last reunion is read. A moment of silence is held in their honor followed by an inspirational reading.
This year a prayer was offered from the 1861 Soldiers Prayer Book, published by the Protestant Episcopal Book Society of Philadelphia. Direct us, O Lord, in all our doings, with thy most gracious favour, and further us with thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in thee, we may glorify thy holy Name, and finally, by thy mercy, obtain everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen The list of names read:

The list for the 2003 report begins with Georgia Hightower Henne Higdon, born in Missouri, wife of J. B. Higdon of Texas.
