Little League Baseball in the 1950s

Ronnie Higdon's brother Denton of North Carolina, who shares this newspaper clipping with us, says, "Check out the name of the tall one...that's my brother. When he finished growing I believe he was 6 feet 7 inches."

The caption for the photograph taken around 1957 or 1958 reads:

"WINNING WILDCATS--The Little League "world series" has been won by the Wildcats, sponsored by Macon County Supply. Team Members are (L to R) front row, Lyman Bryant, Alex Corbin, Larry Franklin, Jimmy Taylor, Zeb Cabe, and Hugh Franklin; back row, E. J. Carpenter, Coach, Sammy Tallent, Walter Taylor, Jr, Jimmy Williams, Ronnie Higdon, Johnny Crawford, George Mallonee, and Johnny Cabe."

A recent picture of Ronnie is available in the Photo Gallery with Uncle David Grayson Higdon. Other Higdon relatives in the above photograph include the Corbins and Coach Carpenter, who is the father of the State Representative for Western North Carolina, Bob Carpenter.
