This Higdon gristmill was located on what is now Ellijay Road in Macon County, North Carolina. Check Higdon gristmill in the Photo Gallery for a story of interest.

A look down the Siddlestep Ridge portion of the old National Pike, looking north toward some of the high ridges that the migrants did not have to cross. Why? Because the crossing over of this ridge was made at the lowest portion of this particular mountain range.
