Bonnie Atkins
Bonnie is the daughter of the late Nettie and Leonard (1910-1990) Higdon and the granddaughter of the late William T. 'Bill' and Mary 'Dolly' Higdon. Bonnie was named in honor of her paternal aunt, Bonnie Higdon Reaves. She has been married to John Atkins for almost forty years and together they have two daughters, Teresa and Lisa. She attended Berry College, the University of Tennessee, and Pellissippi State College. Bonnie worked as a substitute teacher for many years while she raised her daughters. Today, she is a real estate broker and a tax preparer. Bonnie is an avid tennis player and is a member of the USTA tennis league.
In 1994, Bonnie was the editor of the HFA newsletter and has been a longtime member of HFA. Bonnie frequently assists her daughter Lisa in tombstone transcriptions and genealogical research.
