The Higdon Family Association, Inc.

Many Higdons born in western North Carolina have long lives. Four Higdon relatives, all born in Macon County, North Carolina, died in 2001, and all were over 90 years old. All were descendants of Leonard Higdon/Eve Hoffman. These were:

Lived to 101 Many other descendants of Leonard Higdon/Eve Hoffman have lived into their 90's. One of their descendants - Ethel Higdon - lived to be 101.
Ethel Higdon	NOTE: Many of you who have been attending the Higdon Family Association meetings for some time will remember our charming cousin Ethel Higdon, who was a regular attendee of these meetings for a number of years. And two of her daughters - Helen Higdon Allison and Eva Higdon Wood have continued this tradition of being active HFA members. Both Helen and Eva were at the Tulsa, Oklahoma, meeting in October 2001.
Ethel Higdon (10 August 1890-22 January 1992) was the daughter of Joseph Hoffman Higdon/Margaret Matilda Berry. (I believe all their children were born in Macon County NC.) On 26 Dec 1917, she married Dennis C. Higdon. Both Ethel and Dennis were descendants of Leonard Higdon/Eve Hoffman. Their son William Hoffman Higdon (1816-1903) was Ethel's grandfather, and their son Americus Higdon (1835-1864) was Dennis' grandfather.
